Dental Bridges and Dentures woodstock ga

Dental Bridges and Dentures Atlanta, Marietta, RoswellMaintain Your Oral Health and Appearance with Dental Prosthetics

Replacing missing teeth is critical to oral health. Gaps in-between teeth caused by a tooth that has fallen out - or been extracted - make the mouth susceptible to problems such as periodontal disease, TMJ disorder, and even bone loss. Two excellent ways to fill the spaces left between teeth are dental bridges and dentures. Contact Woodstock, GA dentist Ray H. Morgan, Jr. - founder of Towne Lake Family Dentistry - and his associates Dennis L. Radcliffe and Adam J. Barefoot for more information or to schedule a personal consultation.

About Dental Bridges

Dental bridges fill in spaces left by missing teeth. There are several different types of bridges. A traditional type is composed of an artificial tooth supported on either side by a crown (or cap); the crowns slip over the teeth on either side of the gap, and the artificial tooth (called the pontic) slides into the space. A cantilever bridge attaches on only one side of the gap. Bridgework may be made of porcelain, porcelain fused to metal, or gold, silver and alloy materials. Dental bridges may be secured into place with implants, making them as sturdy and supportive as possible.

Benefits of Dental Bridges

Bridges not only look good, they feel and function as well as normal, healthy teeth. They are safe, effective, and typically very long-lasting. In addition to looking very natural, bridges allow you to eat, speak, and laugh normally. Many of our patients report increased levels of self-confidence as a result of their bridgework. The risk of oral health issues is lessened, and the smile looks natural and healthy.

About Dentures

Dentures are removable appliances that come in either full or partial form, depending on the number of teeth that are missing. Full dentures replace all of the teeth in the upper or lower arch. Partial dentures fit in-between the spaces where one or more teeth have fallen out or been removed. Dentures are composed of artificial teeth attached to a gum-colored plastic base that is connected by metal framework that secures it within the mouth. They fit over the gums and in some cases may be anchored by dental implants.

Dentures require a bit of an adjustment period as you get used to chewing and speaking with them. They can be quite fragile and should be handled and cleaned carefully. If you’d like more information about wearing dentures, please contact and Towne Lake Family Dentistry today.

Benefits of Dentures

Dentures are beneficial for both cosmetic and health-related reasons. Your dentures should closely resemble your natural teeth, so they are nearly undetectable. They fill out the appearance of your smile and support your facial muscles so that your face won’t sag. They also restore your ability to speak, eat, and laugh naturally. If your dentures are fitted properly, you shouldn’t have a problem with slipping or clicking. They may be anchored in place with dental implants, making them more stable and reliable.
